The short version: your profile is only visible to other signed-in students on the school pages you join. Your email and birthday are never shown. We don't sell your information, show ads or track you across other apps. You can delete everything from the app at any time.

What we collect
Information you give us
- Account: your email address and password (stored securely by our sign-in provider; we never see your password), or the details Apple shares when you use Sign in with Apple.
- Birthday: used only to confirm you're 17 or older. It's never shown to anyone.
- Profile: first name, gender, photos, fun fact, the school pages you join and your status at each (applying, admitted or committed), when you start, Instagram and Snapchat usernames, and anything optional you add, such as hometown, home state, intended major, what you're looking for, roommate style, interests and bio.
- Safety: people you block, reports you send (the reason and any details you write), and requests for new schools.
- Messages to us: anything you send to our support email.
Information collected automatically
- Basic technical data: like any online service, our servers record things such as IP addresses, request times and app version, to keep UniLinked running, secure and debuggable.
- App updates: when the app checks for updates, it sends its version and device platform to our update service.
We don't use advertising or analytics trackers, we don't collect your location, contacts or browsing history, and we don't track you across other companies' apps or websites.
How we use it
- To create your account, show your profile to other students on your school pages, and show you theirs.
- To filter the school grid (for example by gender, start term or roommate style) when you choose to.
- To send sign-up and password reset codes.
- To keep UniLinked safe: enforcing our age requirement, reviewing reports, and removing content or accounts that break our rules.
- To answer you when you contact us, and to fix problems.
Who can see your information
- Other students: only signed-in students who are on at least one of the same school pages can see your profile. People you block, and people who block you, can't see you. If you hide your profile, no one new can find you in the grid.
- Never shown: your email address, birthday and the reports you send.
- Service providers who run parts of UniLinked for us, only to provide their service:
- Supabase (database, sign-in and photo storage, hosted in the United States)
- Resend (sends sign-up and password reset emails)
- Expo (delivers app updates)
- Apple (Sign in with Apple and app distribution)
- Cloudflare (hosts this website and forwards support email)
- Google (Gmail, where our support inbox lives)
- Legal reasons: if the law requires it, or to protect someone's safety.
We don't sell your personal information or share it for targeted advertising.
Photos
Photos are stored privately. The app loads them through short-lived links that expire within an hour, and only for students who are allowed to see your profile. Remember that anyone who can see your profile could take a screenshot.
How long we keep it
- Your account and profile stay until you delete them.
- When you delete your account (Me, then Delete account), we immediately delete your profile, photos, school memberships, blocks and sign-in record. Deleted information may remain in routine backups for a short time before they're overwritten.
- For safety, reports are kept after accounts are deleted. Reports you sent are kept without your identity. Reports about you keep only your first name and the report details.
Your choices and rights
- See and change your information: everything on your profile can be edited in the app under Me.
- Hide your profile: Me, then Hide my profile.
- Delete everything: Me, then Delete account.
- Ask us: email support@unilinked.app to request a copy of your information or ask any question. Depending on where you live (for example California), you may have additional rights, such as to know, correct or delete your information. We won't treat you differently for using them.
Age requirement
UniLinked is only for people 17 and older. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone younger. If we learn that a user is under 17, we delete their account. If you believe someone under 17 is using UniLinked, report their profile or email us.
Security
We use encrypted connections, private photo storage and database rules that limit who can read each piece of information. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password.
Changes
If we change this policy in an important way, we'll tell you in the app before the change takes effect.
